4-H State Contests

Kelsie competed in 3 contests this year. (they can only do a maximum of 3). They were: Dairy Foods, Shooting sports and GPS.

Shooting Sports

She was the only girl from our county to compete in shooting sports this year. Shooting Sports includes: rifle, shotgun, bow and arrow and survival skills test. I tried to get Ashley to compete this year but she wouldn't do it. She has so much natural talent that if she would practice she could win. She isn't interested in 4-H anymore. Kels did well but she didn't place this year in shooting. She didn't practice as much as she should have. There is more competition now that she is older. She will do better next year.


Dairy Foods Contest
Kelsie made a patriotic chesecake. The one in the picture wasn't her finished product. I forgot to take a pic of it. How, I don't know. IT was in a rectangle pan so it looked more like a flag. The one shown in the picture it the one she made during her demonstration. Her demonstration went real well. There were a few things that she can improve on for next year. She needs to have it memorized better so she doesn't need to look at her notes. The only other thing that she was maked down for was she had a cheesecake demo and her speach was on dairy products and fitness.

One of the judges said her choice of recipes and her theme didn't go together. She did, however tall them that she tried making the recipe with the fat free cream cheese but it didn't set-up.
Her board turned out really cute. My scrapboook supplies came in handy for this!

She did win a first place ribbon but she didn't win one of the cash awards this year.



GPS

She was the ONLY girl to compete in the GPS contest and she WON!!
She won a $100.00 savings bond. I was so excited. All of the classes she has taught on this subject have really paid off.
